Cajon Tutorial: Flamenco Sixes

This video teaches the foundational flamenco rhythm known as ‘sixes’; which is used in many Flamenco palos including Buleria, Alegria, Solea and many other variations of palo that use a 12-beat compas.
Take your time with this one, and once you have a firm understanding of this, you will be able to progress to other syncopated variations of the same feel.
If you are able to play in and out between these sixes grooves, and grooves in a 12-beat compas, then you are on your way to understanding how flamenco works, and are equipping yourself with tools to be able to improvise freely and communicate with the musicians in your ensemble!
