Lesson 1 Mix the signals

On 22 February 2023, I published a scenario prompt called "Citizen development on steroids." The edition included 3D-printed batteries, low-code platforms combining with AI, GPS tag darts fired from police cars, nuclear fusion breakthroughs, and killer robots. None of those signals mattered individually.

What mattered was the sentence I wrote underneath them: "Technology abstraction means everyone plays LEGO with technologies.” It was inspired by my work with the Project Management Institute on citizen development.

That single line turned out to be the through-line of everything I would publish for the next three years. Not AI. Not quantum. Not synthetic biology. LEGO. The idea that technologies are becoming interchangeable components that anyone can combine, without deep expertise, without writing code, without asking for permission.
