This story brings us to 1960’s Brazil, where two suited men were found lifeless side by side atop a hill with no apparent signs of injury, along with rain coats, cryptic notes, and--most bizarre of all--two crudely constructed lead masks shaped like eyewear.

This would later be dubbed by the media as the “Lad Masks Case” and it’s been the source of wild speculation since the men were found nearly six decades ago. It’s a tale laced with accusations of police negligence, possible third party involvement--and even whispers about secret societies and UFOs sightings.

Whether the case is what it seems at surface level or not, the circumstances surrounding how these two men ended up there are fascinating.
