They are both screen rides, both popular an beloved rides at Universal Studios Orlando but which one is better? We test out the Simpsons ride queue, the Simpson Visuals, the Simpsons ride backstory and the Simpson ride enjoyment and compare that to the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem queue, the despicable me minion mayhem visuals, the despicable me minion mayhem backstory and the despicable me minion mayhem ride enjoyment.

Simpson vs Despicable me
A classic motion simulation ride based on a legendary cartoon and a newer more popular ride here at Universal Studios. Hello and welcome back to Rix Flix where today we are pitting two motion simulation rides against each other, The Simpsons Ride vs Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. Which one will come out victorious in this simulated battle?

Round 1: Queue
Simpsons – The Simpson’s ride is located in “Krusty’s Carnival Midway” section of the park. To enter the ride's queue area, visitors must walk through a 32-foot head of Krusty the Clown. This leads them into a pavilion under various circus tents themed to carnival stalls. Various posters in the queue display advertisements for the attractions at the park, while various television monitors display clips from the television show billed as moments from Krusty's past, as well as live animated footage from Krustyland.
Right before you get on the ride, riders line-up into rows to wait for a confirmation from Krusty. TV screens posted inside the walls on the left and right sides of the room display the residents of Springfield running the midway booths at the park. Soon, Krusty appears on another screen in front of guests and prepares to pick the first family to ride his "Thrilltacular: Upsy-Downsy Spins-Aroundsy Teen-Operated Thrillride", the most extreme ride at the park.

Despicable Me Minion Mayhem - When people are waiting in line for the ride, they get to learn about the recruitments of a Minion, the profiles of Gru, Dr. Nefario, Margo, Edith, Agnes and the Minions, filled with scenes from the first film and the Minion Mini Movies. The guests are also given a Minion-quiz, to let them test themselves to see if they are fully prepared to be a Minion.
Gru's living room - guests enter the room and receive Minion Goggles, the latest invention created by Gru's sidekick, Dr. Nefario
Gru's laboratory – after the preshow in Gru’s living room, guests move into Gru’s laboratory. This is where you’re turned into a minion.
Neither of the two queues would make a Rix Top Six for theming but, there is one clear winning and it’s the one where you get to walk through a 32-foot Krusty The Clown head…point for round 1 goes to...
Round 2: Storyline
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem - just before the ride, Gru, along with some Minions, enter the room and explains the public are there for a reason: henching for the world's #1 supervillain. Gru explains his newest scheme: turning everyday ordinary human beings into Minions using a new device called the Minion Gun created by Doctor Nefario. Gru explains that there were a few major and minor snags in the initial Minionization test runs, and that all of the errors are eradicated, as far as the guests know.
Along the way, Agnes attempts to give Gru an anniversary gift to celebrate the girls’ adoption. Edith, however, tells her that Gru already left, which filled Agnes with sorrow, causing her to realize that Gru may have forgotten the anniversary of their adoption. Margo explains to her that he has not, and that also they have an important job to do: transforming the audience into Minions and training them for Gru's bidding. At the end of the ride Gru opens Agnes' present, revealing a doll replica of himself. Despite it being “a little squashed and burnt", Gru finds it "absolutely perfect", and gives his daughters a hug.

Simpsons - As the journey begins, someone (spoiler alert: sideshow bob) is sabotaging Krustyland, Krusty the Clown’s low-budget theme park, and you’ll smash and blast through the park with Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie in an over-the-top non-stop adventure. And Along the way, you’ll come across a giant Maggie and a reference or two to famous theme park rides…I’m looking at you Small World.
This was a close call, the Despicable me has a fun, detailed story but we love the fact that with the Simpsons Ride, we’re riding a ride about riding theme park rides, while in an actual theme park…point to...
