Ten years ago, supporters of Child Advocates of Silicon Valley launched Foster5K, turning running shoes into a lifeline for Santa Clara County’s foster youth. The annual race has since raised funds for programs that support local foster children and increased public awareness of their needs. This year’s event, the 10th, is set for May 17 at Martial Cottle Park in San Jose, inviting runners, volunteers and community members to join the effort. Organizers say the event demonstrates what can be achieved when residents rally around vulnerable kids and their advocates. Foster5K founder Debbie Crouse said, “What we’ve built together is something I’m incredibly proud of.” The race embodies a decade of collaboration between the nonprofit, participants and donors, fueling services that connect youth with essential resources, mentorship and stability while amplifying the call for ongoing support. Proceeds benefit ongoing programs in Santa Clara County. Volunteer involvement continues to grow annually.
