Yun Chung betrays the confidence of the roving bandit Chang Hsien-chung and arranges for the Manchu spy Jin Kegang to ambush the convoy of treasures entrusted to his care on its way to the hiding place at Mount Mei. The daughter of a late Ming general Liu Ching-ping is tasked by her masters, the Three Elders of the Valley, with the rescue mission. Lying in wait at the Mallow Forest Crossing, she fends off the advances of the Three Tigers of the Chen, who are castigated by Shih Chen-nan, nephew of the fanatically loyal Ming general Shi Kefa. Liu repays his kindness by shielding him from his pursuers—Jin, the three tigers and their master Miao Tao-chi—who, ganging up with Yun, reach the crossing where they are manoeuvred into an ambush. With the treasures switched with stones, the looters turn their attention to Jin, resulting in a vicious fight in a treasure-laden donkey-drawn carriage and a fatal plunge down the slope. Liu and Zhennan join hands to battle and vanquish Yun and the traitors before joining Shi Kefa in the common cause of salvaging the Ming regime.
