5 steps to heal your acne: repair your skin barrier | bauer beauty
1. identify if the type of acne you have is hormonal or "bacterial" and if you've been using the wrong products thus compromising your skin barrier.
2. Simplify your routine. Think of the least possible thing you could do to your skin. Oil cleanse, cream cleanse. Or cream cleanse, toner/micellar. Moisturizer and SPF. Thats it! Use 10% benzoyl peroxide as a spot treatment.
3. Add barrier restoring ingredients like lipids and ceramides into your routine. Use the comedogenic scale to determine which oil you want to use based on your skin type: https://www.beneficialbotanicals.com/comedogenic-rating/
Not all skin types are compatible with oil though.
4. Reduce the number of times you cleanse per day when possible. As often as you can, wake up and just rinse your face with water or micellar water. Follow with your other products if you'd like. But some days just keep it simple.
5. Think holistically by balancing your diet, stress, sleep, etc. Coffee, sugar, and dairy all directly affect your hormones. So does stress and lack of sleep. Drink enough water, eat your vegetables. xo
