No matter what was thrown at Toothless and Hiccup in the final confrontation against Drago in How To Train Your Dragon 2, they had the capability to face the threat head on using a bunch of the abilities that…. were never explained to us. First Toothless breaks the alpha’s command after we were told “no dragon can resist the alpha’s command.”

Then they survive a typically fatal ice attack by revealing some type of untapped enhanced blue mode for Toothless where he glows and shoots even more powerful plasma shots. Umm yeah I was a bit curious what that was. And finally Toothless challenges Drago’s alpha and somehow rallies the previously mind controlled dragons to attack the Bewilderbeast leading to Toothless winning and becoming the new alpha. But now after the dust has settled… I want an explanation: how did Toothless achieve all of these feats?
