DNA Fingerprinting, Gel Electrophoresis, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
DNA "Fingerprinting" is used often to match evidence taken from a crime scene with an array of potential suspects. This video describes how the DNA is extracted from the crime scene, duplicated using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and then loaded into a machine for analysis via gel electrophoresis. Radioactive tagging is also useful in further narrowing down potential suspects by marking certain RFLPs.
