On Sunday, May 24, at 2pm CDT, Racial Justice Ministries at Scarritt Bennett Center hosted Part 2 of our Black Men Shares series, “Black Boys Speak: What Does it Mean to be a Black Man in America?”—presented in partnership with My Brother’s Keeper Nashville.
This event, which streamed live on our Facebook page, bears witness to the trauma, intimidation, and even the deaths of black youth and boys in our communities and across the U.S. We invited our viewers to be active listeners during the discussion, as together we hear the stories of young black boys from the Nashville community. Speakers give us a glimpse into their lived experiences so viewers can reflect on their truths and discover ways to become co-conspirators in ending racism in our country.
This conversation was influenced by Martin Luther King’s dream that one day all of the children in American would be judged “not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Lean in and listen. Reflect. And discover how we can end racism together through the lens of young Black men in America.
