Before James Worley is sentenced to death, he gives emotional 45-minute speech

This story aired on April 18, 2018. The courtroom was a sea of purple; supporters, family and even the prosecutor, as well as court staff, was wearing Sierah's favorite color. The hearing was much longer and probably more emotional then anyone could have expected; not only through the judge handing down the death sentence but because Worley spoke for a long time.
Worley asked the judge to speak before being sentenced - that speech lasted 45 minutes. Worley faced the family, proclaimed his innocents, and seemed to have an excuse for all the evidence stacked against him. But after listening for some time, Worley said he had love in his heart for the Joughin family and tried to explain that he felt terrible for them.
Sierah's grandfather got up and walked out. The rest of her family followed, many sobbing, others showed faces full of anger and rage.
The judge set Worley's Death date on June 13, 2019. But of course, we know it will be many years until it is carried out. Worley does plan to appeal and was appointed attornies today for that appeal.
