The two sides of Tunisia: BEAUTY and DECAY (so sad)
Don't forget to Subscribe!
In this Tunisia travel vlog, we explore the island of Djerba and share the two sides of this beautiful yet somewhat neglected country. Since being in Tunisia, we have only really shown the amazing sites and epic landscapes but we tend to avoid showing the sadder side to our experience as tourists.
We think travel should be more than just seeing the top 10 most beautiful things on TripAdviser. Travel is experiencing the real place; both the beauty and the reality for locals. Tunisia is a land of contrasts, from golden sands and hidden beauty to the raw and unfiltered truth of a tourism industry in need of love and attention. Today we encounter this contrast first hand on the island of Djerba.
After speaking to many locals, Tunisia has suffered a lack of tourism since the Tunisian Revolution in 2011, only intensified by the worldwide Covid19 Pandemic. We go urban exploring around an abandoned hotel complex that's laid empty and derelict since 2001. Places like the Coralia Beach Hotel perched on the edge of the turquoise Mediterranean, were once buzzing with trade and tourists but now lay in decay, covered in dust, sand and broken glass.
