How Metaphor Helps Your Memory
Don't just land with a message, make your message a metaphor, to which you can refer again and again in the course of your presentation. Because all the world is a stage, and you're speaking in 37 different directions each day. It's a stage on which you stand, and one which you carry in your hand.
Metaphor actually comes from the ancient Greek word Metapherein: to carry over, or to carry across. You carry your message across the busy day with a metaphor, so it is remembered. The stage had different meaning then, it was where the great stories were shared. But now, the stage is everywhere, all the time.
Thus, the metaphor is one of your best tools to enhance retellability...your story will draw the audience into a new world, your message will guide them into how to see the world, and making it a metaphor.
Then as you reference this metaphor, the world being a stage, for example, the metaphor will become your best friend in becoming more memorable, and thus more effective. You can even turn the metaphor at the end of your LInkedin post, to mean something slightly different. All the world may well be a stage, but the world is calling you into your next stage: the one in which your stories will truly deliver transformative messages that guide your audiences.
