Kimi's Kitchen featuring Kimi Werner and Megan Godinez. Presented by @OluKai

Kimi Werner meets up with Megan Godinez to learn how to throw net, a traditional Hawaiian practice of gathering food taught to her by her father. Pounding surf, sharp lava rocks and the pressure of catching dinner are some of the challenges faced in efforts to catch little fry fish to bring home for dinner. But it's the lessons learned through this practice of patience, persistence and timing and learning to walk the line between two worlds of ocean and land that make this a very special tradition worth sharing. Mahalo to OluKai for supporting us telling these stories.

Fried Whole Fish with Chili Pepper Water:

Clean fish by removing scales and guts. Rinse and pat dry. Score each side of fish with knife and season with salt and black pepper. Pan fry in medium hot oil, until golden brown on each side. Serve with chili pepper water.

Chili Pepper Water:

5 fresh Hawaiian chilis smashed, minced or ground up (can substitute for other spicy peppers, like (1) habanero, (2) jalapeño, etc)
2 cloves of garlic, smashed, or minced
Add vinegar, shoyu and water to taste, based on your own love for salty/tangy balance.
