On Saturday evening I got a notification from the Aurora app that Monday's KP levels were forecast to be high - so I booked my flight for the next morning to Iceland, booked a tour with Arctic Shots......... and left my main camera on charge at home in the UK! Whoops!
Fortunately, I still had my Ricoh Theta S to make this incredible timelapse.
My friends went swimming in the sea earlier in the evening and said they could already see a hint of the aurora, so we were getting excited during the pick up with our tour guide.
Getting closer to the geothermal energy plant where we would stop, we could see the green lights appearing and just as we pulled up were treated to a jaw dropping display! For the first 5 minutes there were reds, purples, pinks and a lot of greens and then more turquoise and fading to green which continued until my camera battery ran out and we eventually left.

So worth it and even more incredible than when I saw it last year in Iceland! Thank you Universe :)
