Sewage Treatment and COVID-19: How Wastewater Can Be a Tool in Determining the Magnitude and Extent of a Pandemic
Wastewater epidemiology is an emerging field centered on testing for biomarkers or chemical compounds to determine the health of a community within a sewer catchment area. This session explores how New Castle County's innovative partnership with the wastewater epidemiology firm, Biobot Analytics, provided novel information on the presence of the virus in communities and how this testing has been used as tool in focusing the County’s response to the pandemic.
Featuring:
Michael Harris, New Castle County Department of Public Works
Matthew Meyer, New Castle County County Executive
This presentation is brought to you by the Delaware Riverkeeper Network as part of its 2020 Watershed Congress.
