URSL(Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy)#trending #advancedsurgery #youtubeshorts #kidneyhealth#medical #life

URSL (Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy) is a minimally invasive surgery used to break and remove kidney and ureteral stones. Surgeons insert a thin scope through the urethra and bladder to the stone, then use a precision laser to shatter it without requiring any external skin incisions.

Why It's Done

• To treat stones that are stuck in the ureters (the tubes connecting your kidneys to your bladder) or lower kidneys.

• To relieve sharp pain (renal colic), urinary blockages, or infections caused by stones.

What to Expect

• Procedure: It typically takes 30 to 120 minutes under general or spinal anesthesia.

Fragmentation: A laser or similar device breaks the stones into dust or fragments. These are either extracted with a tiny basket or passed naturally.

Stent Placement: Surgeons frequently place a temporary Double-J (DJ) stent to keep the ureter open, which reduces swelling and helps remaining fragments pass.
