Waxing, Tweezing Demo for State Board Exam

Those procedures have the most points along with manicuring at the state board exam. It will be done on a mannequin starting March 1, 2012, for NIC examination for Cosmetology Examination. Simulated wax product (gel) and tweezers are used to do this portion of the Cosmetology exam. This video is not for salon use, it is specifically made for the state board exam. Procedure for Tweezing;
Disinfect the area or use protective covering
Set up work area with supplies labeled in English
Wear gloves
Use disinfected or disposable implements
Apply antiseptic to eyebrow area
Hold the skin taut (without slack)
Tweeze or demonstrate removal of hair IN direction of hair growth
Apply antiseptic to treated area

PROCEDURE OR WAXING;

Apply antiseptic to eyebrow area
Use absorbent material or product to dry eyebrow area
Remove simulated wax product from container using infection control procedures
Test temperature of simulated wax product on wrist
Apply simulated wax product along entire area under eyebrow
Apply an even, thin layer of wax product
Smooth fabric over simulated wax product IN direction of hair growth
Hold skin taut (without slack)
Pull fabric IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF HAIR GROWTH
Apply post-epilation product to treated area
Apply antiseptic to treated area
Clean up; undrape the doll, dispose of soiled materials using infection control procedures; in properly labeled receptacle
