Two reasons Satie’s Gymnopédie No. 1 is sneakily hard

Sometimes, the simplest-sounding pieces can be the hardest! 💀Two reasons Satie’s Gymnopédie No. 1 is sneakily hard:1️⃣ Right Hand vs. Left Hand Battle – Your right hand has to sing above the left while also playing louder. It’s like rubbing your stomach and patting your head… on steroids. 😵‍💫🎵2️⃣ Big Jumps, Soft Landings – The left hand makes wide leaps, but each note has to land as if it’s floating on air—effortless, smooth, and glass-like. ✨ That takes serious control and relaxed mastery over the keyboard. 🎹👐There are plenty of other sneaky challenges in this piece (and many others!), and I’d love to help you tackle them. 😏📅 Join me on Wednesdays at 6PM for my weekly Piano Hits class at Musicians Playground, where we’ll break down Gymnopédie and other iconic piano pieces! 🎵Can’t make it on Wednesdays? No worries! Catch the Sunday and Monday Piano Hits classes with other amazing MP instructors.#piano #pianolessons #learnpiano
