Tapping the Fuel Tank for 2 Diesel Heaters in Our Skoolie (Part 2)

As the title implies, we had to find a better way of getting fuel to our Skoolie's 2 Diesel Heaters, and tapping the fuel tank was the answer! Mike removed the set screw from the top of the fuel tank, and modified it by drilling a hole (in the set screw, NOT the fuel tank!). Then he used the standpipe that came with the diesel heaters, securing it in the set screw with JB Weld. Once it hardened, the whole new piece was screwed into the fuel tank, supplying fuel to both our diesel heaters.
You'll see the rest of the process as Mike installs the second diesel heater in the back of the bus, hear our commentary about why we have so many sources of heat on our bus, and see our real-world timed-test to see how long it takes to heat the bus on a cold morning!

About Us:

Hi! We are Mike & Kerry, the proud owners of a 1992 Bluebird rear engine (pusher), 40' school bus! We named her Bussy McBusface in honor of the RRS Boaty McBoatface travesty!
We're building a Tiny-Home-in-a-Bus for full-time living in the most adventure-friendly way possible! In other words, Bussy will not be parked in our driveway, waiting for weekend or holiday getaways... when we finish the build, we'll be packing everything we're keeping into the bus and driving away from this old house forever!
We plan to be boondocking the majority of the time, so you'll see that reflected in our choices throughout the build (100 gallon water tank, composting toilet, solar power system, etc). We'd love to have you stick around and follow us on our journey, throughout the Skoolie Build, and to Infinite Adventures Beyond!

Mike & Kerry
