BREAKING: CJI Pulls Up NCERT Over Corruption Row, Says 'Washes Away Illustrious History Of SC'

The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, took suo motu cognizance over a new Class 8 NCERT social science textbook chapter referencing "corruption at various levels of the judiciary," calling it a "deep-rooted conspiracy to defame" the institution and contrary to constitutional integrity. CJI expressed strong displeasure, stating he would not allow anyone to taint the judiciary's illustrious history, especially amid selective targeting without mention of corruption in politics or bureaucracy. In response, NCERT quickly halted distribution, removed the e-version, and plans to revise the chapter titled ‘The Role of the Judiciary in Our Society’.
