Faces of Sápmi, year 1883 - In colours
Original photographs were taken by the Danish northern lights researcher, Sophus Tromholt, that lived through a winter in the arctic Norway, in Guovdageidnu, with the Sami people. His aim was to photograph the northern lights, which was impossible with the camera he brought along. Instead, he started to photograph the local population.
