Traders Just Paid Record Prices to Bet Bitcoin Will Crash
The most expensive crash insurance in Bitcoin history just got bought. And the market is dead calm.
Traders dropped $685 million on put options in 30 days. Put premiums hit an all-time high. The put-to-call ratio is at levels not seen since 2021. Everyone is betting on a crash that is not happening.
Bitcoin is at $71K. Realized volatility is at 50. The price is just sitting there while people panic-buy protection against a disaster.
Last time fear hit these levels was June 2021 after the China mining ban. BTC was at $29K. Five months later it hit $69K. A 140% rally born from maximum fear.
History does not repeat, but the pattern is screaming.
