Make a 3-D Fabric Face Mask **Requested** (Filter, nose wire, ear loops, XL, beard, fabric tips)

Hi everyone, it's Maria, your Midnight Baker. First of all, I just want to thank everyone who has been watching and recommending my videos - I never imagined so many people would find my channel! I may not have been able to respond to all the comments, but I read every single one. Among the kind things people said and shared, there were lots of requests and questions - I tried to cover everything in this video, but let me know if there is anything I missed. I am working on a way to share a PDF of instructions - I don't have a website so I will update that information when I work out a good way to share it.

If you haven't seen my original videos on the 3-D mask, please check them out, as they are tutorials that cover the detailed steps for construction. This video covers just the requested modifications.

I have a chart in my video of starting dimensions and finished dimensions, but here's a quick reference guide. Remember that tie length (for ear loops) is intentionally longer to allow for adjustment using beads, knots, or ear savers:

Child (recommended ages 4 - 10): 6.5" x 9" (cut 1 3/4" corners); 7" ties
Adult: 7.5" x 10.5" (cut 2" corners); 9-9.5" ties
XL: 9" x 11" (cut 2 1/4" corners); 10.5" ties

I recommend 2 layers of 100% woven cotton, 3 layers if you are making the filter pocket. The starting pattern can be modified according to personal preference, and remember that the steps will work on any rectangle with the corners cut. You don't even have to make the corner cuts the same if you want a smaller cup on the nose and a deeper cup for the chin! Just remember how the mask is constructed and make sure you make the same size cuts on the two top corners (which will form the flap for the nose) and the two bottom corners (which form the flap for the chin).

Thank you so much to everyone who watched, liked, recommended, commented and/or subscribed. I plan to pivot back to baking content on this channel, and I understand if you are no longer interested. I have been obsessed with sourdough bread (started 16 months ago) and I am still using the same starter and baking 2 loaves a week. Sourdough starter is infinitely versatile - I've done brioche, cinnamon rolls, even just fried it up as flatbread in addition to bread, but I'm also experimenting with my flour percentages and adding in spelt, whole wheat, sprouted whole wheat, and now - rye! I also bake plenty of pies, cakes, cookies, and tried homemade Pop Tarts and Hot Pockets... hopefully will get some of that content edited and uploaded soon. My kids have started school and I start work after Labor Day, plus I'm fostering a little dog until she is ready for adoption, so it's pretty busy! But check back and hopefully, I'll have some fun new videos for you.

Until then, thanks again, and have a safe rest of 2020.

Take care,
Maria
