Install Git for Windows Using Only the Keyboard | 2026 #git #programming #developerproductivity

In this walkthrough I install Git for Windows from start to finish using only the keyboard, narrated with the NVDA screen reader. Whether you are a blind or low vision developer or you just prefer working keyboard first, this is the whole process: finding the official download, running the installer, choosing sensible options, and confirming the install in Git Bash.
I download Git from the official site and go through each setup screen so you know what every option does and which ones I leave at their defaults. I keep Git Bash because it is the shell I reach for on Windows when I am building things like a small Python and Qt desktop app, and at the end I open Git Bash and run git --version to confirm everything is in place.
