Interview with Amayo and Jordan McLean of Antibalas | Sound Tracks Quick Hits | PBS
The music of Antibalas is party music, but it's innately political. What does that mean for a band that is trying to bushwhack its way through the tangled world of today's music industry? It means they live the Afrobeat lifestyle from the streets of Brooklyn to the Broadway stage, where they arranged and performed the music for "Fela!" The band's Nigerian-born lead singer Amayo and trumpet player Jordan McLean share their experiences with Marco Werman.
