Every World Music Day, Sourendro-Soumyojit try to explore new musical ideas. Last year, that journey led to “Kanch Ki Nahi”, an original ghazal performed by Somlata at Sourendro-Soumyojit’s World Music Day Concert 2025.

The duo always felt Somlata would bring the right depth to the ghazal. With her deep understanding of music, she gave the song a voice that truly honoured its poetry. Ghazals have been close to her heart since childhood, but she had never performed one on stage before. This song became that moment. She even spent time working closely on the Urdu pronunciation, making sure every word felt right.
