Massive drug bust in Western Cape uncovers millions worth of illegal drugs.A 45-year-old man is expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court following a major drug bust in Delft.
Police say officers were conducting stop-and-search operations in Buane Street, in the N2 Gateway area, when they pulled over a silver vehicle.
During the search, officers discovered drugs and cash believed to be linked to criminal activity.
What initially appeared to be a routine check quickly developed into a larger investigation.
Further inquiries led police to a storage facility in Stickland, where a significantly larger quantity of drugs was uncovered.
At the facility, officers seized tens of thousands of Mandrax tablets — part of a consignment estimated to be worth more than 2.7 million rand on the street.
Authorities believe the drugs were intended for distribution within local communities, pointing to a broader and more organized network.
The suspect has been taken into custody and is expected to face charges related to drug dealing and possession, with additional charges possible as investigations continue.
Police have welcomed the arrest, stating that operations like these are aimed at disrupting the flow of drugs and reducing the impact of organized crime in affected areas.
