In 2005, the revelations of torture in Guantanamo showed the world the extent to which civil rights were suppressed in the name of the War on Terror. Known for taking strong political and social stances, Oscar-winner Susan Sarandon was in Locarno to accept the Excellence Award and talked about her career and the craft of acting, as well as activism (how every film is political) and the power she drew from her celebrity during an exceptional historical moment.
