Binge eating tips #weightlossmotivation
The best way to stop craving junk foods and binge eating? Stop eating junk food.
I know, I know. Easier said than done and besides, that’s literally the problem you’re facing!
What I mean is, the less junk food you eat and the longer you go without it, the less you will crave it. It’s the same with any addiction.
These are my tips for staying clear of junk food and curbing my desire to binge eat.
1️⃣Clear your environment of trigger foods. Out of sight, out of mind. Turn off the TV, unfollow foodie accounts, or change the subject in conversation when your trigger foods are mentioned. The more you’re thinking about it, the more you’ll crave it.
2️⃣Change your environment/be a homebody. Social gatherings almost always include eating and drinking.
You say you won’t…but you know you will. Sometimes the only solution is to not go. Find other ways to be social with your friends that don’t involve food. At least temporarily.
3️⃣Eat more volume/more nutritional foods. Stick to whole foods like proteins (meat, chicken, etc), green veggies, and fruit. Eating more of these kinds of foods lets you eat more food without going over your calorie needs (they’re naturally lower in calories).
This way you can eat more and feel more satisfied, thus reducing craving to binge.
4️⃣Never bring trigger foods home. Again, easier said than done but avoid the aisles at the grocery store where your trigger foods are.
You know it’s not possible for you to eat just one cookie at a time, so why buy a value pack when you know you’ll eat them all in one sitting? If you’re craving a trigger food, buy it from a bakery/restaurant, eat it there and be done. Don’t bring it home.
5️⃣Exercise. Exercise and healthy eating go hand in hand for me. The more consistent I am with my workouts, the more consistent I am with my diet.
The endorphins alone from exercise put me in a better mood and make me forget I was craving a milkshake an hour earlier. Feeling a binge coming on? Go for a walk or hit the gym.
Is binge eating something you struggle with on a daily/weekly basis? What has worked for you?
