Piers Morgan put Australian media ‘to shame’ over fake news story

The “bitterly anti-Morrison media” didn’t do a shred of fact-checking over a false story involving the Prime Minister and British broadcaster Piers Morgan, according to Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton.

Mr Morgan tweeted a picture of himself and the Prime Minister, which prompted Labor MP Stephen Jones to criticise the PM for supposedly meeting with the broadcaster during a flooding crisis and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

However, the photo had been taken a week prior, before the floods or the invasion – which Mr Morgan was quick to point out.

“Piers had a field day putting our countrymen to shame, pointing out that not only was it false but Labor leader Anthony Albanese had met with him the night prior,” Mr Houghton said.
