The Outer Worlds 2, Mac Mini M4, CrossOver, DLSS, HDR: Performance test

The Outer Worlds 2

Setup: Mac Mini M4 Base Model, macOS 26 Tahoe, CrossOver 26 Preview, HDR, DLSS, D3DMetal, MSync.

Settings: 1080p resolution, low graphics (auto-configured) with medium textures, DLSS set to Quality, DLSS Frame Generation on, HDR on.

Performance averages over 50 FPS (estimate).

Actual frame rates without frame generation are much lower, averaging around 30 FPS (estimate).

The experience on a Mac Mini M4 at 1080p is not good, both visually and in terms of gameplay. Gameplay in closed spaces is okay (during the first chapter), but there are some slowdowns and stutters in open fields.
Second Test (not in the video):

I also tested this game on a MacBook Pro M4 Pro (24 GB, 14-core CPU/20-core GPU). On the M4 Pro, the game is perfectly playable at 1080p with medium-high graphics, using either DLSS Quality or FSR Quality. The performance is over 50 FPS without frame generation.
Notes:

1. DLSS support requires macOS 26 and GPTK 3. The DLSS Frame Generation option requires CrossOver 26 Preview.

2. HDR support has been added with GPTK 3 Beta 5.

3. Using FSR4 for this game may cause freezes upon the "Load game" operation for some reason. If DLSS is available, it should be used anyway; otherwise, TSR is the other option.
