It didn't take long for the world to fall 'crazy in love' with Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. Beyoncé's devotion to her craft and her awe-inspiring performances have aligned her with timeless, iconic creators like Prince and Michael Jackson. Between her legendary vocals, epic music videos, charity work, and high-profile relationship with Brooklyn-born rapper Jay-Z, Queen Bey is one of the most successful women in the world.

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter was born in Houston, Texas to Matthew and Tina Knowles. From a young age, she had big dreams to be a star and her parents supported her endeavors. She began her musical career the all-girl entertainment group ‘Girl’s Tyme’ which landed her an appearance on ‘Star Search.’ The group failed to win, but they caught the attention of a R&B producer, eventually leading to the first record deal.

In ‘96, the group changed their name to ‘Destiny’s Child’ and dropped their debut song ‘Killing Time.’ Over the next few years, the break-out group gained worldwide fame with hits like ‘Say My Name,’ ‘Jumpin’ Jumpin’,’ ‘Bills, Bills, Bills.’ The group eventually dissolved once Beyoncé decided to pursue a solo career.

Beyoncé’s first feature was on Jay-Z’s ‘O3 Bonnie & Clyde’ — starting the powerful partnership between the two music icons. Her first solo album ‘Dangerously in Love’ featuring viral hit ‘Crazy in Love’ which featured Jay-Z, began the foundation of her dedicated Hive.

Beyoncé continued her climb to the top with her hit albums ‘B’Day,’ ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce,’ ‘4,’ and ‘Beyoncé,’ and her latest ‘Lemonade.’ All of the albums have been widely successful, deeply creative, and profound in the music industry.

Beyoncé’s creative wheelhouse has also included acting stints, fashion brands ‘Ivy Park,’ using her platform to promote social justice, capture the highs and lows of a relationship, and celebrate the journey of motherhood with the birth of her three kids: Blue Ivy, and twins Sir & Rumi Carter.

Beyoncé then and now is a creative superstar and talented force in entertainment. For more about Beyoncé, check out NowThis’ evolution of Beyoncé.
