NavaED Live | Assistant Principal Interview Tips
In this live session, I go through some tips about the assistant principal interview. The main take-aways are:
Look up the demographics of the school. Remember the school is the principal's child, and he or she will love to talk about said child.
Remember you are not a teacher; you are a building level administrator. Use scenarios where you lead other teachers, parents, community members.
Think about what you can bring to the school that will help solve problems.
You do not have to fix all the problems in a situation. Instead, think about a small leadership contribution you can make to move the team towards progress.
You are a problem solver!
You are data-driven!
Pick a couple of leadership scenarios you can pull from when asked: curriculum, safety, PLCs (teams), parents, etc.
Listen to something inspiring before the interview. Prepare first and then blast Beyonce, Journey, your favorite speaker or preacher--anything to get hyped up!
If you fumble, good! What did you learn?
I believe in you!
