How to Renovate a Small Lawn Step by Step
In this video, I show you how to renovate a small lawn from start to finish using a simple step-by-step process that any homeowner can copy. This mini lawn renovation started after a small section of my lawn was damaged near my driveway, but this same process can be used for bare spots, dead grass, construction damage, thin areas, or even a larger full lawn renovation.

I walk through the entire lawn renovation process, including killing off the existing grass with glyphosate, pre-germinating Kentucky bluegrass seed, dethatching the dead grass, leveling the soil, spreading grass seed, applying peat moss, setting up a watering schedule, and showing the early germination results just a few days later.

For this renovation, I used pre-germinated Kentucky bluegrass along with perennial ryegrass to get fast germination and help the area fill in quickly. I also show how I used Milorganite to help dry out the pre-germinated seed so it could be spread more easily, then covered the seed with peat moss to help keep moisture on the seed during germination.
