Chamath Palihapitiya: Consumer Internet Businesses Are About Exploiting Psychology
Continuing the Stanford GSB series with Social Capital Founder & CEO Chamath Palihapitiya to discuss the "Fail Fast" culture in Silicon Valley. Chamath claims that while the "Fail Fast" culture works for consumer internet businesses, which are anchored around exploiting people's psychology, it doesn't work for hard core sciences that would make major impacts in this world. Hard core sciences take time to groom and capital markets don't typically reward that type of behavior. The question is: when things get hard, can you double down?
About The Channel
I’m a fan of the market and a fan of paradigm-changing products. I find raw information unnecessarily complex and want to make a change. With that in mind, I try to dissect complexity into simple, digestible pieces to spur independent thoughts and aspire ideas. In this channels, we will talk about stocks and value, share insights and stories, dive into products and strategies, and anything that promote clary thinking in an uncertain world. This is About Value and my name is David. Enjoy the show!
