Anyone who was #TeamJacob for the duration of “The Twilight Saga” likely had big hopes for the reign of Taylor Lautner. Before he was 16, his movies grossed $1 billion worldwide and he seemed to have Hollywood – not to mention his fans, wrapped around his finger. But his hot bod and mediocre acting could only take him so far. Unfortunately for the young actor, when “Twilight” fell out of the spotlight, so did he. And there are a number of reasons why. Let’s take a look.

After “The Twilight Saga” Lautner was very picky with the roles he took on, which could be a major reason why he hasn’t been as successful as he could have been. He dropped out of “Max Steel” after being offered a role and turned down Liam Hemsworth’s role in “The Expendables 2.” Who knows, those roles could have been two more big breaks. Instead, the movies he did decide to take on turned out to be total flops. His first solo movie, “Abduction” rated an embarrassing 4% on Rotten Tomatoes and only brought in $28 million domestically. It cost $35 million to make, which means the film didn’t even break even. His second solo film, “Tracers” didn’t even make it to the theater. The picture went straight to DirecTV which is always a huge red flag.

Taylor also charged way too much for what he was worth, turning movie producers off. After being paid $5 million for “Abduction”, a film that was such a disaster, no one wanted to give him the prices he was asking for. And once he started starring in bad comedies like “Grown Ups 2” it only seemed to get worse from there. He played a frat boy who was leader of the pack, and failed to impress many of his “Twilight” devoted fans.

And lastly, let’s just admit, he’s not exactly the crème de la crème when it comes to acting. A six pack and mediocre acting skills can only get you so far before the world realizes that you might not actually have that much talent. His failed movies and solo gigs have proved that his acting is subpar. Whether you were ever a Taylor Lautner fan or not, you’ve probably realized that he hasn’t been in the spotlight so much since “The Twilight Saga”.
