For many, detox is among the first steps on a path to recovery from drug and alcohol abuse. Withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, sleeping problems, hallucinations, and a drop in blood pressure can all be common. It’s important when detoxing to be aware of these things. If left untreated, they can become deadly.

It might surprise you that sometimes commonly available substances like alcohol can be more deadly than illegal drugs like heroin or cocaine when it comes to detoxing.
