Julie Bianchi on the SOF Video Contest and Playing Card Symbolism in the First Folio

Trustee Julie Sandys Bianchi manages the SOF’s annual video contest. The contest was developed by Tom Regnier, Cheryl Eagan-Donovan, Bonner Cutting, and other SOF trustees several years ago as a way to make the story of Edward de Vere exciting, entertaining and visual.

The 2022 contest is soliciting videos to support the upcoming 400th anniversary of the publication of Shakespeare's First Folio in 1623. Julie has devised a three-part way for you to tell that story — focusing on the foreground, background or underground of this historically important book. Choose any level, and have at it!

In this chat with Bob Meyers, part of The Shakespeare Interviews series, Julie shares her discovery of playing card symbolism appearing throughout the Folio — an example of one of many intriguing puzzles that might form the basis of a contest video.

Winners in each category get $1,000 and a free one-year SOF membership. She provides details in this video interview.
