British sci-fi author, John Wyndham is in the spotlight in this rare film biography.

John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Beynon Harris was an English science-fiction writer best known for his books published under the pen-name John Wyndham. His novels include "The Day of the Triffids" (1951, filmed in 1962) and "The Midwich Cuckoos" (1957, filmed in 1960 as "Village of the Damned" and again in 1990 under the same title).

He was born in Warwickshire, England in 1903 and spent most of his childhood in private education in Devon and Hampshire, including Bedales School. He tried several careers before publishing a novel and short stories. During the Second World War he served as a censor at the British Ministry of Information, before joining the British Army. He resumed his writing career after the War, publishing several very successful novels and undoubtedly influencing a number of other writers who followed him. He died in 1969 at Petersfield, Hampshire.
