Abandoned Retro Ski Resort explored in the great outdoors. Ontario, Canada Explore #36
Frank and his wife Greshina built this Chalet and Ski Resort in 1963 and opened its doors in 1965. This was a small ski hill with 3 ski runs with one Tow Rope and one T-Bar ski lift. The hill was approx. 185 feet high. They hosted some training events and races here. Frank and his family decided it was getting to much to maintain and operate the resort so they closed the resort in 2001. After that his son Linas continued to run the ski and snowboard shop in the chalet. Linas has now opened a new ski and snowboard shop in Mansfield, Ontario, Canada http://www.lorettoskishop.ca/

There was a number of plans in place for this property over the years. There was once a proposal to turn the property into multi-purpose year round resort. This included a Snowplex and Xpark with an indoor facility for year round snowboarding, leisure, retail, entertainment, outdoor zip lines, obstacle courses, driving range, horse ranch, ski slopes and a campground. There was once a proposal for a resort style condominium and a 3 star hotel with approx 150 rooms. Family built businesses take a lot of hard work, time, sacrifice and money. Its hard to see places like this getting demolished and left abandoned as once this was a very fun and busy place. I had the opportunity to document this historic ski resort and share the history here for years to come. It may be gone now but it will never be forgotten.

My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
