This is the moment that Basia captured the title of Miss Black America, and the legacy of a true Queen. She was the most decorated and accomplished Queen within Black America's history, having encouraged the most female contestants to compete to become apart of The Black America System and inspired the highest number of promoters to invest in Black America for preliminary competitions of any Former Queen to proceed her. The legacy she has left is not only one of importance as well as excellence, but it is one of accomplishment, honor, and remembrance. While cultivating her legacy, Basia designed what has now become the staple of The Black America Pageantry System, and current crown that each of her successor Queens wears in representation of the system and in honor of her memory.

Basia was a visionary. The labor within her journey to capture the title of Miss Black America, created something that the trees still whisper about. She was incomparable. Her vision has now become our definition of what it means to truly be a SYMBOL OF EXCELLENCE, and her legacy will live eternally within each individual not only wearing the crown, but those that honor it. Basia was the titleholder of Miss Black America from 1997 until 1998, but her VISION has truly crowned her A QUEEN FOREVER...and for this, WE HONOR HER! *Rest In Peace*
