First African American Nobel Peace Prize Winner

Ralph Johnson Bunche was the first African American to be honored with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1950. Bunche received the prestigious award for his service to the United Nations and his mediation in the Arab-Israel Conflict in the late 1940s.
