How Did Jesus Fulfill the Law?
This is a clip from the longer video: "Did Jesus Replace Judaism? A Messianic Jewish Response to Andy Stanley." - https://youtu.be/WcazbshVzVk
In Matthew 5:17, Jesus says, "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill" (NRSV). What is Jesus saying? Pastor Andy Stanley argues that this means Jesus came to make the Torah obsolete. In this video, I show the major problems with Stanley's argument and then make a positive case for the meaning of Matt 5:17 by examining the text in its Second Temple Jewish context.
