We eat vitamins on daily basis, but today we will discuss what actually vitamins are, and why they are important. what is there role in body, what is difference between fat soluble and water-soluble vitamins. and also, we will discuss different types of vitamin and their role and sources in details
Vitamins are a group of substances that are needed for normal cell function, growth, and development.
There are 13 essential vitamins. Which are classified under fat soluble and water-soluble vitamins
Fat-soluble vitamins
Vitamins A, Vitamins D, Vitamins E, and Vitamins K are fat-soluble. The vitamins can be stored in the body in fatty tissue and the liver, and reserves of these vitamins can stay in the body for days and sometimes months. In easy words your body has the capacity to store these vitamins, so even if not taking these vitamins regularly, your body has still the stored form of these vitamins which can be utilized later.
Water-soluble vitamins
Vitamin C and all the B vitamins are water-soluble. Water-soluble vitamins do not stay in the body for long and cannot be stored. They leave the body through urine. Because of this, people need a more regular supply of water-soluble vitamins than fat-soluble ones
Lets discuss first, fat soluble vitamins
Vitamin A (Retinol)
Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin which is important for normal vision, the immune system, reproduction, and growth and development

Vitamin D (Ergocalciferol)
It is a fat-soluble vitamin and is important for maintaining healthy bones and teeth. It also help the body absorb and retain calcium and phosphorus
Vitamin E (Tocopherol)
In the body, it acts as an antioxidant, helping to protect cells from the damage caused by free radicals.

Vitamin K (Phylloquinone)
Function: It is necessary for blood clotting. Sources include: natto, leafy greens, pumpkins, figs, and parsley.
Now let’s discuss water soluble vitamins in details
Vitamin B1 (Thiamine)
vitamin B1 helps the body's cells change carbohydrates into energy. The main role of carbohydrates is to provide energy for the body, especially the brain and nervous system. Vitamin B1 also plays a role in muscle contraction and conduction of nerve signals

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin.)
It is essential for the growth and development of body cells and helps metabolize food.
Vitamin B3 is made and used by your body to turn food into energy. It helps keep your nervous system.
Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid)
It is necessary for producing energy and hormones.
Sources include: meats, whole grains, broccoli, avocados, and yogurt.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)
It's necessary for the development of the brain, nerves, skin, and many other parts of the body.
Sources include: chickpeas, beef liver, bananas, squash, and nuts

Vitamin B7 (Biotin)
It contributes to keratin, a structural protein in the skin, hair, and nails.

Vitamin B9 (Folic acid)
Folic acid helps your body produce and maintain new cells. Folic acid also works closely with vitamin B12 to help make red blood cells and help iron work properly in the body

Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin)
Vitamin B12 is needed to form red blood cells and DNA. It is also a key player in the function and development of brain and nerve cells.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid)
It contributes to collagen production. wound healing. and bone formation.
