Day One, I lecture and demonstrate painting techniques on how to mix colors, how to draw a portrait, how to polarize an oil portrait painting, how to paint an eye by showing the difference between a ping pong ball and a crystal ball and how it relates to painting an eye, how to add darks and lights, how to add shadows. Day Two, I revisit the painting to make the darks darker and the lights lighter to show visual contrast in the face, in the clothes, and in the background. I demonstrate how to paint the earring and add highlights to bring the painting to completion by the end of the day.
