Prevent Ice Dams in Your Freezer with Vaseline?

Could applying Vaseline to keep your refrigerator and freezer gaskets to keep air from leaking prevent ice dams from forming? Vaseline is cheap. Vaseline is easy to apply. It seems too good to be true. Except it just might be the right answer.

This could be worth gold.
