Speed Training: What You’re Doing Wrong

Your acceleration and speed capabilities are improved by a combination of optimizing posture, power transfer, and movement efficiency - not by following the latest fad where athletes run around in the sand or with crazy tools.

Improving stride length and stride frequency will help far more than you tap dancing or setting up nuanced drills.

Force production requires strength, plain and simple. You must run fast to get fast, but you also must strive to improve your strength to bodyweight ratio. It’s simple physics.

We create frequency by using more forceful movement and greater ranges of motion at higher velocities. Turnover and velocity are NOT the same things which is partly why work you often see down on “speed ladders” has no bearing on speed development.

If you want to optimize your ability to love forcefully, efficiently and gracefully through space, understand this requires strength and resilience of not just your muscles, but perhaps even more importantly, the tendons. The factors discussed in this video will enhance your understanding of how the neuromuscular system also plays a key role.

Don't fall for gimmicks, follow proven principles.
