If Grier decides to come back, he could be the best quarterback in college football next season. Grier threw for 3,490 yards, 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 11 games this year. He would be a strong candidate for the Heisman. David Sills leads the country with 18 touchdown catches, five more than the next-closest competitor, Memphis’ Anthony Miller. He also has more touchdown catches than 70 entire Football Bowl Subdivision teams. Sills has caught 57 passes for 903 yards so far this year, averaging 15.8 yards per catch. He has four 100-yard receiving games, including a career-best 153 yards and three touchdowns against East Carolina. He has caught two or more touchdowns in seven games in 2017. If the two decide to return next year, they would put up crazy numbers and lead the Mountaineers into contention for the Big 12 title and possibly the national title in 2018.
