IC 1871 is a prominent, bright-rimmed emission nebula and active star-forming region located on the northeastern edge of the larger Soul Nebula (Sh2-199) in the constellation Cassiopeia. Situated about 6,500–7,500 light-years away in the Milky Way's Perseus Arm, it is known for its dramatic, complex dark dust clouds and glowing gas ridges sculpted by UV radiation from nearby young, hot stars
